MY: Johor Causeway entry rates increased

Singapore-bound vehicles will have to pay toll from the 1st of August. Vehicles that utilise the Johor Causeway will have to pay almost 3 times the current toll rate as well. Motorists will now have to pay the charges using the Touch 'n' Go card, for cash payment is no longer accepted. The current rate for cars entering Malaysia is RM2.90, and will increase to RM9.70 come the 1st of August. Outbound vehicles will have to pay RM6.80. Class Two vehicles, which have 2 axles and more than 4 wheels(with the exception of buses), will have to pay RM14.70, up from RM4.50. Commuters leaving Malaysia for Singapore will have pay RM10.20 Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) director-general Datuk Ismail Mohd Salleh said the revised rates were reasonable, for the bulk of the motorists have enjoyed the facilities of the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL), which was built to help disperse traffic heading into the Johor Bahru city area.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
