Mitsubishi introduces 2014 Outlander and 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition
Mitsubishi unveiled the full-size 2014 Outlander and mid-sized Outlander Sport at the LA Auto Show.
The 2014 Outlander has a completely redesigned exterior. It moves away from the Lancer-inspired front to a much more futuristic look.
The seven-passenger 2014 Outlander gets the choice of two gasoline engines: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter V6 for the Outlander GT. The four-banger makes 166 hp at 6,000 rpm and 220Nm of torque. The upgraded GT model produces 224 hp and 290 Nm of torque. The base model uses a continuously variable transmission while the GT gets a conventional six-speed automatic.
Mitsubishi's Super All-Wheel Control, optional on the Outlander, is lighter and more efficient, according to the company. Additionally, when the Eco button is pressed while the car is in four-wheel drive, it only uses two wheels until slip is detected to conserve fuel.
The 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition is a special trim of the company's current compact crossover. The new specification adds blackout side mirrors, center bumper, wheel arch trim and roof rails. It also has unique alloy wheels.
The interior is available in two-tone gray and black leather. The Outlander Sport uses a 148-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission.
