Mercedes-Benz introduces the C-Class Cabriolet

Cabriolets are always a favourite amongst motoring aficionados who have higher spending powers. But soft-top automobile models are, by hard statistics, only a handful. This prompted luxury car-maker Mercedes Benz to introduce the C-Class Cabriolet, adding a new member to its stable of premium cabriolets.

Positioned as an entry-level premium cabriolet, the design of the C-Class Cabriolet took in a number of inspirations from its soft-top siblings: sporty and youthful in character and styling with a sense of unadulterated open-air driving pleasure. With its roof covered, the two-door C-Class Cabriolet bears strong resemblance to the C-Class Coupe. Both feature a striking diamond-shaped radiator grille. Both light up the road with a pair of high-performance LED headlamps. Both are designed with a long bonnet and a high beltline.

As sporty and playful as it can be, the designers at Mercedes-Benz know too well that there is a practical side in each driver. Which is why the C-Class Cabriolet is configured with a boot space of 360 litres (with roof covered).

The C-Class Cabriolet has a lot of power to unleash. Complemented by aerodynamic lines and a set of 17-inch light-alloy sports wheel, the car, which is contoured with a distinctive AMG design, is no doubt the envy of many when it comes to speed, power and elegance. For those who wanted more agility from the C-Class Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz offers the owner an optional suspension upgrade, which incorporates the Sports Direct-Steer System.

Despite being an entry-level open-top automobile, the components of the C-Class Cabriolet, whether external or internal, are as premium as what you will find in the highest-end model. Chrome trim are lavishly used on its A-pillar, windscreen, beltline moulding and soft-top components. Comes in black for the basic C-Class Cabriolet variant, the fully-automatic fabric soft top can be opened and closed in less than 20 seconds. With an option to fit the C-Class Cabriolet with a multi-layer acoustic soft top in dark brown, dark blue, dark red or black, the fabric takes the pleasure of driving to a higher level with its wind-noise reduction and ambient-noise insulation properties.

Interior-wise, the C-Class Cabriolet offers a modern feel, combining a lifestyle touch with some racer-boy elements. Decked with sports seats that come with side bolsters, organically-integrated head restraints and automatic belt extenders, Mercedes-Benz has proven that sportiness can be safe and comfortable, all at the same time. The rear seats are individual seats, which is a rather unique feature. Talking about safety, the C-Class Cabriolet is fitted with a reverse camera. Those who need another pair of eyes (or sensor) to watch out for road danger will find the car’s Collison Prevention Assist Plus feature a great thing to have. A new Touchpad feature is now available in the C-Class Cabriolet.

The most important component in the C-Class Cabriolet– the engine – comes with the 4MATIC feature that gives the owner an added piece of mind with its ability to increase traction in slippery conditions. The engine for the C-Class Cabriolet comes in four variants. The range of output extends from the 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit in the C 180 to the 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit in the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Cabriolet.
