Mercedes-Benz EQS Launched In Singapore - 10 Things We Need To Know
Mercedes-Benz Singapore has launched the first all-electric luxury saloon from Mercedes-EQ – the EQS, the first model to be based on the modular architecture for luxury and executive-class electric vehicles. The first models that will be available in Singapore are the EQS 450+ (S$527,888 with COE) and the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ (S$753,888 with COE). Here are 10 interesting facts we need to know about the EQS:
1) With a drag coefficient of 0.20, the EQS is the most aerodynamic production car in the world. It is also among the best in terms of quiet running.
2) The EQS 450+ offers up to 762km of range (WLTP), while the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ can travel up to 570km per charge (WLTP).
3) The EQS can be charged with up to 200 kW at fast charging stations with direct current. Power for up to another 300km (WLTP) is recharged in just 15 minutes.
4) The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ weighs 175kg more than the EQS 450+ - 2,655kg vs 2,480kg.
5) The EQS 450+ sprints to 100km/h from scratch in 6.2 seconds, while the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ accelerates to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
6) The Mercedes-Benz pattern radiator grille is available in the EQS 450+. The design picks up on the original star of the Daimler- Motorengesellschaft, which was registered as a trademark in 1911.
7) The EQS has up to 350 sensors. These record distances, speeds and accelerations, lighting conditions, precipitation and temperatures, seat occupancy as well as the driver's blink of an eye or the passengers' speech.
8) Nature-inspired sounds provide an immersive and realistic on-board sound experience. These calming sounds were created in consultation with acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton.
9) A rear axle steering with a steering angle of up to 10 degrees can be ordered. This makes a turning circle of 10.9 metres possible for the EQS, which is over five metres long. This corresponds to the turning circle of many models in the compact class.
10) Mercedes-EQ relies on an intelligent, camera-based locking logic: if the camera detects that the driver is looking at the front passenger display, it is automatically dimmed.
