After months of anticipation, Mercedes-Benz finally unveiled the new E-Class sedan – and surprisingly at the same time, the E-Class Coupe as well.

The new E-Class sedan will be replacing the outgoing model with two variants – the E 300 and E 350. Smaller-engined versions, the E 200 and E 250, will come at a later date. And this time around, Daimler also decided to introduce the E 500. The E 63 AMG, on the other hand, will be available on indent basis.

The new E-Class sedan has undergone a stylish redesign, with the exterior being given a sophisticated touch – it now sports a far sleeker façade, together with a rear that has strong cues of the current S-Class. It also sets new standards in safety, comfort, drive and environmental compatibility – besides featuring BlueEfficiency for both the E 200 and E 250, the new E-Class offers a host of innovation, including the new Attention Assist which uses 70 sensors to analyse driving behaviours, and alerts the driver when it senses drowsiness. There is also Lane Keeping Assist, to warn you if the car drifts off its lane, as well as Blind Spot Assist, to keep an eye on – what else – blind spots.

Prices start from $186,888 for the 184bhp E 200 to $349,888 for the 388bhp E 500. Buyers can choose the new E-Class in either Elegance or Avantgarde trim.

Debuting in Singapore consecutively is the E-Class Coupe. With its classic coupé side aspect – no B-pillars and fully retractable side windows – the new two-door car is a particularly sporty interpretation of the E-Class' dynamic design. At the same time, the Coupé achieves a new world best in terms of drag coefficient: with a Cd figure of just 0.24, this model is the world's most aerodynamically efficient series-production car.

It is available in two variants: a 204bhp turbocharged E 250 BlueEfficiency and 272bhp V6 E 350. Mercedes promised sheer power delivery and refined handling for the Coupe – and it has been given better damping and gearshift characteristics, different from the sedan’s.

Price is pegged at $212,888 for the E 250 and $277,888 for the E 350.
