The future of Melbourne’s Formula One Grand Prix appears doubtful after Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone said that manufacturers and sponsors want to quit Melbourne.

Since Grand Prix was being introduced to Melbourne in 1996, it has lost a staggering $130 million, of which nearly $35 million of that amount was from last year’s F1 event.

The Melbourne GP contract expires in 2010 and Ecclestone is already considering potential replacements such as India, Russia and South Korea .
