McLaren 765LT Breaks Cover In Singapore

McLaren’s 765LT is the latest addition in a long line of storied ‘Longtail’ models. The Woking-based automaker has revealed that the newest LT model also happens to be the most dynamically advanced and engaging ever from McLaren, and it does so by elevating the very elements that embody cars with such a historic nameplate.

Amplification of the driving experience can take place in many forms. You can shed weight, add grip or increase the output of the engine. McLaren seems to have done all of those and more in the creation of the 765LT.

The engineers started by first shed some 80 kilograms over the 720S that underpins it. Part of the weight loss comes from the advancements in carbon composite technology and the panels bespoke to the 765LT.

They’ve added lightness in other areas too. A titanium exhaust system, Formula 1-grade transmission materials, thinner glass and motorsport-style polycarbonate glazing all contribute to the weight shed. A big added bonus of that exhaust, is a searing ‘LT soundtrack’ when you really give the car a bootful!

Power comes from a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8, developing 765bhp and 800Nm of torque. This is then sent through an seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with revised gear ratios over the unit in the 720S for a 15% quicker in-gear acceleration. 10-spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres provide all the grip you need to optimise grip for maximum forward propulsion, with the 765LT completing the 0-100 and 0-200km/h sprints in 2.8 and 7.2 seconds respectively.

It’s all carbon fibre on the inside, with smatterings of Alcantara. Air-conditioning and an audio system have been deleted, but can be specified at no additional cost.

Mechanically, new LT springs and dampers, increased front track width, a lower front ride-height, all helps to amplify the driving experience for greater feedback and engagement. Carbon-ceramic discs, calipers from the McLaren Senna and Formula 1-inspired, integrated caliper cooling ducts make for ruthlessly efficient stopping power on demand. Additional grip is generated with aerodynamics too, and a combination of all the tweaks over the standard 720S making this the fastest Super Series car to date!

Only 765 examples, all individually numbered, will be made available for sale globally.
