Local News: COE Results for August Round 1
Following the reduction in COE quotas, COE prices have increased as expected. Taxis in Category E drive prices up.
Predictably, Certificates of Entitlement (COE) prices have again risen following the reduced quotas.
Buyers shopping for Category A cars are hardest hit from the Cat A quota reduction as the reduced supply drives prices up by $4,845 this round.
Category B COEs have also recorded a $4,001 increase.
Perhaps a direct result of the reclassification of Taxis into Category E (Open Category), prices have spiked by $8,035.
The full results are as follows:
Category A (Cars below 1,600cc) : $73,501 (+7.1%)
Category B (Cars above1,600cc) : $94,502 (+4.4%)
Category C (Commercial Vehicles) : $57,001 (+2.1%)
Category D (Motorcycles) : $2,081 (+11.9%)
Category E (Open) : $95,034 (+9.2%)
A total of 1,018 Cat A, B and E certificates were awarded in this round’s bidding exercise compared to 1,327 in the last round. A total of 1,651 COEs were awarded.
