Castrol has used their heritage of analysis, technology and innovation to deliver winning performances in sport on land, sea and in the air for more than 100 years. By applying the same approach to football, they have created a series of innovative initiatives designed to give fans deeper, more insightful ways of analysing footballing performances than ever before. Fans can look forward to exciting global events that will be supported by world class ambassadors such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcel Dessailly and Arsène Wenger.

As part of the World Cup campaign, Castrol has also inked an arrangement with ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) to sponsor its World Cup section on espnstar.com. Castrol is coming off a nine-month long sponsorship with of Castrol Football Crazy on ESS, and the brand will extend this association with a digital edition of the programme which is focused on the World Cup. Castrol will revamp the existing Castrol Football Crazy website within ESPNSTAR, as well as specific, tailored content developed by ESS to tap on it being an official FIFA World Cup Sponsor until 2014. ESS will also promote this effort on its on-air and mobile platforms, as well as through its own Twitter and Facebook channels.

The customised content includes Castrol Football Predictor - where fans are encouraged to predict the results of upcoming World Cup matches, Castrol Ultimate Legend - a public poll of the best World Cup player ever, Castrol Fanzone - where fans are encouraged to submit photos of themselves along with a short description on why they are World Cup's greatest fan, Fuel for Debate - where users can have your say on the sport of football, and Castrol Lab - which will feature content from host Henry Golding who will be in South Africa during the tournament.

Most of these applications are available as downloadable widgets from the Castrolfootball.com site. Some of tools to help football fans to enjoy the world cup more includes:

The Castrol Index - a definitive system for rating the world’s best players. First introduced during UEFA Euro 2008, it uses the latest technology to objectively analyse and rank any player’s performance in the 32 teams taking part in the FIFA World Cup
