Lexus Launches First Full EV, The UX 300e

Japanese luxury car manufacturer Lexus, launches its first ever full EV in Singapore. Like most mainstream manufacturers, Lexus is telling the world that it is serious about saving the environment. Actually, the luxury marque is one of the few automotive pioneers in electrification, since they have for years, been keen to include hybrid vehicles with their offerings.  The UX is the brand’s smallest SUV offering, and the full EV variant, the NX300e according to Lexus, boasts a practical driving range of 300km, or up to 5 days of average driving in Singapore. The front-driven SUV delivers a maximum output of 201bhp and 300Nm, and clocks 100km/h in 7.5 seconds.  Their new EV features four levels of regenerative braking, that can be easily toggled via paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Lexus has also reworked the GA-C platform, which the UX is built upon, with additional braces and optimised shock absorbers, to accommodate the nature of how an electrified vehicle performs.

The electrified UX features connectivity for both Apple and Android device users, allowing for seamless casting to the infotainment display, while front passengers can enjoy the added comfort of ventilated seats. Adding to the luxurious ownership experience, Lexus has also included a premium 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, designed to deliver the 3Ps of the brand’s sound signature - Purity, Power and Precision. The UX 300e has additional insulation around the battery, helping to significantly reduce external noises. During operation, UX’s interior will be filled with natural ambient sounds through Active Sound Control) to provide the car’s occupants with a more natural driving feel, since there is no engine.

“We are excited to debut the first all-electric UX 300e on Earth Day. We believe that Singapore is gearing up to expand its EV infrastructures and the UX 300e will offer accessible all-electric technology with this latest addition.
