Singapore, 17 May 2017 – Land Rover has announced its innovative Ingenium diesel engine will be introduced to the Discovery Sport. Following its highly successful launch in May 2015, the premium compact SUV will now be available with enhanced performance and economy.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine is designed to deliver impressive torque and power outputs, combined with excellent refinement, reduced CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption.
The Discovery Sport’s compliant Ingenium engine is available with one power output - 150PS - delivering fuel economy of 5.9l/100km and CO2 emissions of 156g/km. The powerful 150PS engine has a top speed of 180km/h and can accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in just 10.3 seconds.
The new aluminium TD4 engine features lightweight construction, with stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors, which ensures low levels of vibration and noise intrusion, further enhancing the driver experience.
A series of advanced technologies reduce internal friction, improve refinement and enhance overall performance. In addition, Selective Catalytic Reduction and a new lowpressure exhaust gas recirculation system significantly reduce both CO2 and NOx emissions.
The Ingenium-powered Discovery Sport will also be designated an ‘E-Capability’ vehicle, E-Capability will apply to both five-seat and seven-seat models fitted with the 150PS Ingenium engine, with 18-inch wheels and low rolling resistance tyres. Additionally, the final drive gearing and engine calibrations have been optimised to provide the lowest possible CO2 for the vehicle.
The Discovery Sport is equipped with a range of class-leading safety features, such as a first-in-segment Pedestrian Airbag, Autonomous Emergency Braking and a suite of driver assistance features; all of which has led to the Discovery Sport being awarded with a Five Star Euro NCAP rating.
Extended service intervals on the new Ingenium engine, from 26,000 to 34,000 km, lowers running costs over the vehicle’s lifetime. Offering customers a wide choice, the Discovery Sport is also available with a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.
Land Rover’s advanced new Ingenium engines are manufactured in the UK at the company’s new state-of-the-art £500m Engine Manufacturing Centre in the West Midlands, which is set to produce 450,000 Ingenium engines each year.
Corinne Chua, General Manager, Jaguar Land Rover, Wearnes Automotive said “Since its launch in 2015, Discovery Sport has gained popularity for its versatility as a compact SUV. With its flexible 5+2 seating configurations and close to 1,700 litres of load capacity, Discovery Sport is unique in its segment. It has played an important role in the Land Rover line-up, contributing more than 50% of its sales. We’re confident that with this new variant, it’ll continue to bring in more buyers.”
