Lamborghini is all set for the grand debut race of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series at the Sepang International Circuit between 25th and 27th May, after a promising official pre-test at the world renowned F1 track earlier this month. The supercar race series in Asia will be held in partnership with Blancpain, the luxury Swiss watchmaker and the European series’ title sponsor.

Following three successful seasons in Europe since 2009, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Championship will for the first time also run on the tracks of six of the highest standard racing circuits across Asia, including Sepang, Fuji, Ordos, Zhuhai, Penbay and Shanghai for the Grand Finale in November. The 2012 season will see teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and mainland China push the raw power of the Super Trofeo to its very limit.

“We are really excited about the upcoming first race of the Asia –Pacific Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in Sepang,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “This official pre-test was an opportunity for the first time the incredible performance of the Super Trofeo race car, and based on the great feedback from the competing drivers we are confident that the Asian Series will be just as successful as in Europe,” he added.

“The Super Trofeo is a perfect opportunity for a collaboration between two international brands, who share the same values of innovation and luxury. Asia is an extremely important market for Blancpain, as it is for Lamborghini, and we look forward to further expanding our operations there,” said Marc Hayek, CEO of Blancpain.

Lamborghini’s racing bull, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, is a lightweight version of the Gallardo LP570-4, boasting a power output of 570 hp from its V10 engine. Commenting on the super race car’s performance at the official pre-test, Maurizio Reggiani, Director of Research & Development for Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. said, “With its permanent four-wheel drive, reworked chassis and use of super lightweight technologies, the Super Trofeo race car embodies perfectly Lamborghini’s extreme, uncompromising and Italian core brand values.”

“Lamborghini and Blancpain have created an exceptional partnership that has gained considerable momentum over the last three years, and we are delighted to continue our support of the series in not only Europe but also Asia, which is an equally important market for us,” said Alain Delamuraz, Vice President and Head of Marketing of Blancpain.
