LaFerrari auctioned off for $7 million in the name of charity

Ferrari is no stranger to charitable causes. On Sunday (4 December), the Italian sports car manufacturer auctioned off a one-of-a-kind LaFerrari (means "The Ferrari" in English) at an astounding amount of $7 million, all the proceeds of which will go towards the rebuilding of Central Italy in the aftermath of earthquakes that shook the Mediterranean country in 2016. The first earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Moment Magnitude Scale, occurred on 24 August. 297 people perished in that disaster. The second series of earthquakes happened two months later, in October. Two of them took place on 26 October. The third one, which was also the largest earthquake in Italy in 36 years, happened on 30 October. Auctioned by the world's foremost collector car auctioneer, RM Sotheby's, the LaFerrari boasts a unique livery with a distinctly Italian theme. Presented with a red exterior and encircled with a white dream line on the bonnet and rear windscreen, the LaFerrari comes with a commemorative plaque that highlights its special place in the world of collectible sports cars. A small Italian flag that is stamped on the front of the bonnet serves as a reminder that this car is a part of the contributions made by Ferrari to Italy.
