Komoco Motors Previews Next Gen Hyundai Avante

Who thinks sedans are boring? Well Hyundai doesn’t. From now till end October 2020, customers at Komoco Motors can have a peek at the all-new 2021 Hyundai Avante. Hyundai’s next-generation compact sedan boasts its all-new Sensuous Sportiness design identity… in easier to understand terms, that could mean four-door coupe-inspired styling, which has become popular in current-day sedan design… Kind of reminds you of a down-sized Audi A7 if you ask me.

The all-new 2021 Hyundai Avante gains 55 mm in overall length (which becomes 4,675 mm) and 20 mm in its wheelbase 2,720 mm, while overall width is increased 25 mm (1,825 mm). With its sleek styling, the roofline has dropped by 20mm [1,430 mm]. While the car is slightly lower, there is limited impact on head space. With the larger dimensions, interior space is overall larger.

“Our goal was to give the Avante more character and emotional appeal and that’s achieved through a strategy called parametric dynamics. We use parametric shapes and textures to give it an edgy aggressive look. And we cascaded the shapes throughout the entire car. You first notice them on the front end in the parametric jewel grille. Also we created an integrated LED feature with the LED headlamp and harmonise shapes of the air curtain,” said Senior Vice President SangYup Lee, who heads the Hyundai Global Design Center.

A few design highlights, like the its Parametric-jewel body surfaces, “H-Tail Lamp” that creates a Hyundai flying H logo-like shape, and wide, cascading stereoscopic grille with partially integrated headlamps are elements to look out for in this aggressively-styled sedan.

There is little news on powertrains available, but we do know that there is a 1.6 litre which would be one of the engine options. We understand that there is also a hybrid drivetrain available. But what we really want is that 1.4 turbo found in the European-built i30.

For those who are keen to have a peek at the all-new 2021 Avante, viewing is strictly by appointment.
