Kia reached a new milestone when J.D. Power declared the brand as the best nameplate in its 2016 Initial Quality Study. Kia, a non-premium brand, beat 32 other makes in the US, which is the first time in 27 years.

Kia's first-place ranking was thanks to the dominating performance of the Sportage, as well as the Forte and Sorento both placing in the top three of their respective categories.

Now in it's 30th year, the J.D. Power's yearly IQS studies feedback from US vehicle owners in 26 segments. Rankings are determined by the vehicle owners, which evaluate certain factors such as driving experiance, engine performance, and presence of quality-related problems within the first 90 days of ownership.

Rise to the Top

Kia's consistent growth allowed it to surpass the 3 million vehicle sales mark last year, as well as its rankings over the past Initial Quality Studies by J.D. Power. The brand debuted in the top 10 in 2013, and eventually found itself in 2nd place in 2015 (the highest-ranking non-premium make that year), before taking the top spot in 2016.

“At Cycle and Carriage, we take pride in offering the best products and services to our valued customers. We are proud of Kia’s achievement as the number one brand for initial quality in the whole industry. This is a direct reflection of the quality of Kia’s cars, and the brand’s continuous focus to improve its craftsmanship over the years, resulting in customer satisfaction in their products even here in Singapore,” said Jardine Cycle and Carriage Limited's managing director Mr. Eric Chan. The Cycle and Carriage group is the authorized distributor of Kia vehicles in Singapore.
