The new Kia Carnival looks so different!

The premier people-mover has undergone a facelift for the 4th-generation - it’s now sleeker throughout. Headlamps are redesigned, flanked by a bolder radiator grille and front bumper. The rear introduces slender tail lamps with reworked tailgate, bumper and spoiler. All these in an MPV that can house up to 8!

Is the new Kia Carnival Hybrid spacious?

At more than 5 metres long, and with a height and width of almost 1.8 metres, it looks large but the real magic lies within. Thanks to a wheelbase of 3,090mm, there’s plenty of legroom for all three rows of seats. If you opt for the 7-seater, it comes with plush, ventilated 2nd row VIP lounge seats. The boot can hold 627 litres worth of luggage.

Is the new Kia Carnival Hybrid powerful and efficient?

It’s propelled by a Smartstream 1.6-litre Turbo Hybrid engine that churns out 241bhp and 366Nm of torque. Power is sent through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The electric motor alone delivers 54kW, but as with all hybrid vehicles, figures should be looked in totality - more than 240bhp (and a century sprint of 9.3 seconds) while attaining more than 15km/l (from a 72-litre tank) on the combined cycle are decent figures!

Can the Kia Carnival Hybrid handle well?

Kia’s innovative “E-Ride” system uses the electric motor to control the vehicle’s pitching (forward and backward motion), by automatically inducing a small amount of either motor braking or acceleration to counter suspension movements. Resulting actions improve ride quality. The Carnival also introduces tech to increase grip and turn-in ability in corners (E-Handling). It sits on 235/55 R19 tyres.

Is the Kia Carnival Hybrid safe?

There are more than 10 advanced collision avoidance and driver assistance systems, more notably the updated version of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, which slows down the vehicle the moment it detects danger.
