Earlier in January, Jean met Singapore’s brightest engineering students from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) taking part in the Shell Eco-marathon, where she learnt fuel efficient driving tips. Putting her knowledge and her experience with the students to the test, Jean achieved a phenomenal 58.68 km/l on the street circuit in Manila, coming in 2nd place amongst the other celebrity participants.

Jean Danker said: “I’m so proud to be a part of this team. However, the real stars today are the students. It’s been an honor to be part of their Shell Eco-marathon experience and to see such dedication and creativity in approaching future energy needs and challenges. ”

Now in its fifth year in Asia, Shell Eco-marathon is one of the world's most innovative and challenging student competitions inviting teams from around the world to compete in ultra-energy efficient vehicles they have designed and built and sparking debate around the future of mobility.

Mr. Louis Tan, General Manager, Retail Sales and Operations, Shell Singapore, added: “We are delighted to celebrate such an impressive result today. With Shell Eco-marathon we hope to inspire the next generation of engineers to meet future energy needs. Jean Danker has also shown Singaporean drivers how easy it can be to be more fuel efficient today.”
