Jaguar Rewrites Rulebooks With Fascinating Type 00 Concept
First reimagined production car to be revealed in late 2025.
Jaguar has revealed the Type 00 (Type Zero Zero) design concept at Miami Art Week, symbolising the brand's bold transformation. Embodying its "Exuberant Modernism" philosophy and new brand identity, the concept previews Jaguar's future direction while honouring the "Copy Nothing" ethos of its founder, Sir William Lyons. That’s plenty of buzzwords, a month after revealing its new visual identity. It’s clearly not holding back, and if success is measured purely by attention, they’ve hit the bullseye.
What is Type 00?
The Type 00 concept sets the stage for a new generation of Jaguars, reimagining the brand's essence through bold design and innovation. Built on the all-new JEA platform, developed from scratch, it combines electrification with dramatic design - future Jaguars aim to stand out in the increasingly uniform EV landscape.
4-door GT confirmed
The first of Jaguar's new-generation models, a UK-built four-door GT, will debut in late 2025. It targets up to 770km WLTP on a single charge, with rapid charging adding up to 321km in 15 minutes.
Defining drama
Type 00 boasts a bold design with a clean, upright front featuring Jaguar’s emblem and lighting that enhances its width. Its side profile highlights proportions, with brass ingots bearing laser-etched Jaguar leapers that deploy to reveal concealed rear-facing cameras. At the rear, there’s a glassless tailgate, a panoramic glazed roof and hidden full-width taillights.
Constantino Segui Gilabert, Chief Exterior Designer, Jaguar, said: “Jaguar is no place for ordinary. When you see a new Jaguar for the first time, it must have a sense of awe, of never having been seen before. Type 00 commands attention, like all the best Jaguars of the past. It has a dramatic presence, channelling a unique spirit of British creativity and originality. It celebrates art and embodies the essence of Exuberant Modernism.”
“Brass spine”
Type 00’s butterfly doors and pantograph tailgate open to reveal a modern interior. Key features include three hand-finished brass lines, with a central 3.2m-long brass spine dividing two floating instrument panels.
Targetting the superluxury segment
It offers a sensory experience with its body-harmonised glazed roof that creates evolving patterns on the interior materials throughout the day. The cabin features the Prism case, which holds three natural-material totems - Brass, Travertine and Alabaster, which allows occupants to personalise the mood. When placed in the centre console, each totem adjusts lighting, sound, screen graphics and scents to match its material. The interior also includes Chiaroscuro-inspired animations on the display screens, using light and shadow to create depth and enhance the sensory experience.
