At the moment the bidder is unknown. According to the auction house (RM Auctions), the car was an ex-factory, award-winning racer. Gracing prestigious shows such as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Goodwood Revival. It is one of the three Ferrari factory racers that happened to be in the 1953 Le Mans 24 Hour race.

Featuring a 4.5 liter V12 engine derived from Ferrari's 357 Formula one racing cars, it has raced extensively; competing in the 12 Hours of Pescara and the Carrera Panamericana in 1953. After its racing era, it ended up in the United States before ending up in England in the early 2000s. The Canadian Auction house (RM) claims that it was driven by three world champions-Dr Nino Farina, Alberto Ascari and Mike Hawthorn-making it a one-of-a-kind Ferrari.
