Is This Porsche's Most "Entertaining" Macan?

Porsche has added the Macan T to its model range, slotting right in between the Macan and Macan S. This now bears the special designation “T” (which stands for “Touring”) previously reserved for the 911 and the 718 Cayman/Boxster T and Boxster T.

The Macan T’s two-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine that churns out 195 kW (265 PS) and 400 Nm weighs 58kg lesser than the Macan S’s 2.9-litre twin turbo V6, which should supply it with more urgency during acceleration, along with sharper responses when tackling corners. The engine is mated to a 7-speed PDK powering all four wheels (still designed to be rear-wheel bias). When fitted with the standard Sport Chrono Package including the mode switch and Sport Response button on the steering wheel, the Macan T can sprint to 100 km/h from standstill in 6.2 seconds.

To elevate its dynamic appeal, the Macan T is the only Porsche model to feature steel suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard - the body now sits 15mm lower. Anti-roll bars on the front axle are also now more rigid. These tweaks form part of chassis tuning efforts that we very well know Porsche engineers will not take for granted.

Visual differences from other models in the Macan range include “Agate Grey Metallic” paint on the front, flank and rear of the Macan T, specifically the front trim, exterior mirrors, side blades, roof spoiler and logos on the rear. 20-inch Macan S wheels in dark titanium will come as standard.

On the inside, you’ll notice that the front seats and outer rear seats are patterned with subtle vertical stripes, along with embossed Porsche crests on each headrest. A multifunction GT heated sports steering wheel and the Sport Chrono stopwatch in the upper part of the dashboard will come as standard. The door entry guards that come in black aluminium will also be standard feature.

With the Macan T, you’ll be getting “upgrades” reserved only for newer production batches (Summer 2021-spec in Porsche speak) - a new, glassy centre console, a touch-sensitive surface and a Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a 10.9-inch touch screen and online navigation will come as standard.

The Macan T is now available to order at a starting price of S$267,688 without COE. As with most Porsches, you might be tempted to have a peep through the lengthy options list to spec it to your own liking. So could this be the most "entertaining" Macan from a driver's perspective? Yes in local terms as it makes most sense in Singapore due to the tax structure that favours the T, but otherwise we'll shell out more for the S...
