Green Proposition - Suzuki Swift Now With Mild Hybrid Drivetrain
Suzuki launches their revamped small hatchback, and it now has a VES A2 rating… meaning there is a rebate. It wasn’t long ago that they launched the car with a 1.0 3-cylinder turbocharged ‘Boosterjet’ engine, 6-speed automatic transmission. The outgoing variant which pushes 108hp and 160Nm, makes way for a 1.2 litre ‘Dualjet’ four-cylinder unit. This makes a more humble 82hp and 107Nm, and is paired with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). Drive to the front wheels is now via a CVT.
While it has lesser performance, Suzuki states that the updated Swift does boast fuel economy at an impressive 24.2km/l; which we feel would interest those who might want a car that is frugal and easy on the pocket.
The updated Swift receives a very minor exterior design tweak, in the form of a new grille with a chrome strip. Buyers will also now get an infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The refreshed Suzuki Swift is now available at Champion Motors, and is going for $86,900, inclusive of COE.
