Futuristic Citroen prototype in town
To celebrate the opening of the Citroen Pod, the first showroom in Asia to embrace Citroen’s new Corporate Identity, the century-old French car maker is displaying the futuristic C-Metisse prototype until mid-August.

The C-Metisse was first shown at the 2006 Paris Motorshow and has a hybrid diesel-electric motor that mates a 150kW (208bhp) V6 HDi diesel with twin electric motors. The diesel powers the front wheels, while the electric motors drive the rear wheel, effectively making the C-Metisse an all-wheel driven car. Citroen claim the C-Metisse can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 6.2 seconds.
Perhaps much more eye-catching is the way the C-Metisse has been styled. It isn’t a large car, but it certainly looks very dramatic. Like classic Citroen’s such as the DS and CX, the C-Metisse has sharp, aerodynamic lines, and the manner in which the window line drops towards the rear wheel is reminiscent of the SM. Naturally, the rear windscreen is concaved.
Door openings on the C-Metisse are dramatic as well, with all four doors opening upwards – like a 4-door Lamborghini Countach or Murcielago.
In most instances, a styling prototype is just that, an exercise in wild ideas that have no hope of reaching production. In Citroen’s case though, things may be different. It showed off the C6 as the C6 Lignage in 1999 before bringing the car to production 6-years later in 2005. So, the C-Metisse (or aspects of it) could actually be a Citroen flagship model for the year 2015!
