Cycle & Carriage Singapore has announced the launch of the new Citroën C4 compact hatchback. First introduced in 2013 as a family-friendly hatchback, the C4 range has evolved, combining various body forms to meet the ever-changing needs of drivers. The new C4 celebrates the 10th generation of Citroën compact hatchbacks.

The new C4 offers a new concept at the heart of the compact hatchback segment. The body shape combines hatchback proportions, while adopting subtle visual cues from SUVs. Notable aesthetic enhancements include an inclined roofline and LED V-shaped front and rear light signatures. It is powered by a 1,199cc petrol-direct injection engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The century sprint is completed in 10.4 seconds. It also boasts a respectable fuel economy of 4.7L/100km (21.3km/l).

The interior is now more spacious, with a wheelbase of 2,665mm providing additional room for rear passengers and a knee clearance of 198mm - a statistic Citroën claims is best- in-class. Comfort-oriented attributes include “Progressive Hydraulic Cushions” suspension system and “Advanced Comfort Seats” - the former features a complex re-work of the suspension to include additional hydraulic stops to aid in rebound and compression, while the latter will be more “noticeable” as the seats are now padded with both high-density and textured foam.

As far as tech is concerned, a 10-inch touchscreen display compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay comes as standard for the base-spec “Feel” variant. It will also come equipped with a couple of safety features including “Collision Risk Alert”, ”Post-Collision Safety Brake” and “Lane Keep Assist”. We are keen to learn more about the higher-spec “Shine” model, but for now we understand that it will be furnished with a wireless charger, along with safety features like a heads-up display, adaptive cruise control and a blind spot monitoring system.
