What is a Ferrari Roma Spider?

It’s a chopped-top version of the Ferrari Roma. The Spider preserves the dimensions, capacities, and features of the Roma's V8 2+ concept. What sets it apart is the introduction of a convertible soft top, a feature that hasn't been seen in a front-engined Prancing Horse vehicle for 54 years, since the 1969 365 GTS4.

So is it all about that soft top?

Well, that’s a highlight for sure. The soft top can be deployed in just 13.5 seconds and is operable at speeds of up to 60 km/h. A newly patented wind deflector incorporated into the rear seat's backrest can be activated using a button on the central console, ensuring comfort for occupants without occupying any interior space within the vehicle.

But does it still have Ferrari’s DNA?

Yes, efforts have been made to ensure that it drives like how a Ferrari should. It maintains the dynamic attributes of the Ferrari Roma. It achieves a top-tier weight-to-power ratio, not only because of its convertible soft top but also due to its lightweight all-aluminum chassis and the 620 cv V8 engine. This engine is paired a 8-speed DCT transmission.

Engineered to sound very, very special…

Each Ferrari engine possesses a distinctive and unique sound, and the Ferrari Roma Spider is no exception. It achieves its unique sound through a flat-plane crankshaft and equal-length exhaust headers that synchronise engine firing and equalise the sound. Moreover, the Spider inherits the Ferrari Roma's exhaust system, which replaces the two rear silencers with new by-pass valve geometry. These continuous and progressive by-pass valve adjustments allow the engine's sound and performance to vary based on the driving conditions.

It’s stacked with creature comforts

Several features have been incorporated to enhance the versatility of this car, such as a boot that leads to the rear seat backrests, facilitating the transportation of larger items. It also comes with standard wireless connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. 18-way adjustable heated ergonomic seats come as standard, with the option to add a neck warmer during winter drives. Not that the latter matters for Singapore!
