Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific Race 2
The habourside track was filled with spectators despite the storm in the early hours of the morning. All the Challenge drivers were prepared for the 2016 Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific fifth round race.
It was Florian Merckx from Belgium at the pole position again with Renaldi Hutasiot from Indonesia who threw down an early charge for the lead. However, Merckx had a clean track in front of him that opened a commanding lead throughout the race. Behind him, Hutasoit and Alexander West from Sweded were locked in a battle of points that failed to catch up to the leader. West spun out of control on lap 8 giving the third to Ringo Chong from Singapore and secured the spot. It was a clear first for Merckx and second for Hutasoit.
Eric Cheung from Canada bagged first place where he gained his lead from Max Go from Japan in the early laps and held on to it. Go maintained the second spot and Xin Jin from China closed out the podium at third.
China's Sky Chen nabbed the first spot after a fierce battle with compatriot Yuan Yang. In the end, Yang could not overcome Chen taking the second place while Alan Yeo from Australia closed off the winners' podium. Tamotsu Kondo from Japan won the Getlemen's Cup.
The next and final leg for Asia Pacific will take place at Fuji Speedway in Japan from 15th - 16th October that will converge for WEC (World Endurance Championship) in Daytona USA for Finali Mondiali on teh 3rd-4th December.
