FE: Pre-season testing completed

The 6th and final day of pre-season testing at Donington Park has concluded, and it is the Renault e.dams piloted by Nico Prost that topped the timing charts. His best lap of 1:30.513s was set in the morning session, and the afternoon downpour helped ensure no one could go any faster than him. The Renault powerplant was reliable enough at this early stage to run at 170kw, the planned race power for season 2. The Frenchman believes the added power makes it more challenging to drive and thus, better suits his style. His teammate, Sebastien Buemi, made it a Renault e.dams one-two. Whilst most of the new powerplants are reliable enough to do a complete test with varying levels of competitiveness, the new motors dropped into the Andretti Autosports and Trulli cars aren’t, with Andretti having to switch to the units used in Season 1 just to get their drivers, Simona de Silvestro and Formula E newcomer Robin Frijns, to put some laps on the table for the American team.

The Trulli team had better news, for they were able to run their new motor properly for the first time. Sadly the lone flying lap was nowhere near representative. With just over 1 month to go before Season 2 kicks off in Beijing, the teams will have to scramble to rectify and fix up any issues the cars are currently suffering from.
