Tell me more about this fresh colour programme

Porsche has unveiled a new colour program for the latest Panamera model, introducing fresh exterior options like Montego Blue Metallic, Ice Grey Metallic, Lugano Blue and Madeira Gold Metallic. The paints underwent a creative and developmental process over several years. The series, metallic, and special colours have been restructured into categories named Contrasts, Shades, Dreams and Legends, each associated with emotional labels. This reorganisation aims to simplify the colour selection process for customers across all model series.

What about Paint to Sample?

Porsche still offers individualised paint options through "Paint to Sample" and "Paint to Sample Plus" alongside the series colour program. "Paint to Sample" emphasises classic Porsche colours from the company's history, featuring over 170 options across all model series. On the other hand, "Paint to Sample Plus" provides customers with the flexibility to create completely unique colours based on their specific preferences and specifications.

More than a trend

The journey from the initial concept to availability took several years. This involved a time-consuming creative and technical development process, including rigorous quality assurance. The demanding nature of these procedures underscores the need for the experts at Style Porsche to consistently stay ahead of contemporary trends and developments. “A new colour has to be more than just a trend – it has to establish itself over a longer period,” emphasises Volker Müller, Head of Colour & Trim at Style Porsche. “We therefore have to identify trends early and sometimes set these trends ourselves.”

Sources of inspiration

Porsche designers find inspiration in fashion, architecture and interior design. According to Volker Müller, colours that have established themselves as popular do well in enduring products like sports cars. The brand's history provides a diverse range of suggestions, as seen in Madeira Gold Metallic, a modern and elegant reinterpretation of Nordic Gold Metallic, available for various model series from 2007 to 2010.

Tests are painstakingly precise

Prior to customer colour selection in the Car Configurator or at Porsche Centre, comprehensive tests are conducted. The sample plates undergo a 3,200-hour exposure to strong UV light in the Weather-o-Meter, simulating a year of direct sunlight in Florida to assess paint durability. The testing process also encompasses evaluations for fire protection, resistance to stone impact and resilience to saltwater.
