Ferrari has introduced the F80, a new supercar that continues the brand’s legendary legacy. With only 799 units to be produced, the F80 joins iconic models like the GTO, F40 and LaFerrari.

1,200hp!

The Ferrari F80 is powered by a 3.0-litre 120° V6 engine that produces 900hp, the highest specific power output in Ferrari's history at 300hp per litre. The hybrid system, featuring an electric front axle (e-4WD) and a rear motor (MGU-K), adds an additional 300hp, further boosting the car’s overall performance.

e-turbos

The Ferrari F80's e-turbos, featuring electric motors between the turbine and compressor, allow for optimal engine performance at mid to high speeds without the typical turbo lag at low speeds. The integration of electric power enables advanced management strategies, ensuring instant response and eliminating turbo lag.

It’s all about shaving weight

To reduce the engine's weight, Ferrari redesigned key components such as the cylinder block, crankcase and timing cover, and introduced titanium screws. These modifications ensure the F80's engine weighs the same as the V6 in the 296 GTB, despite delivering 237 more horsepower.

There’s no 48V battery

Ferrari's converter transforms 800V direct current from the high-voltage battery into 48V for the active suspension and e-turbos, and 12V for electronic systems. Using resonant technology, it achieves over 98% efficiency with no delay, effectively functioning as an accumulator. This design removes the need for a separate 48V battery, reducing weight and simplifying the car's electrical system.

Active wing

The F80's active rear wing is its most distinctive aerodynamic feature. The actuator system adjusts both the height and angle of attack, providing precise control over downforce and drag. In the High Downforce mode, used during braking and cornering, the wing tilts to an 11° angle relative to the airflow, generating more than 180kg of downforce at 250km/h.

Completely new bodyshell

F80 has an entirely new bodyshell made from pre-preg carbonfibre, cured in an autoclave using technology inspired by F1. Its front bonnet features an S-Duct that connects the two front wings. The car uses butterfly doors, like the LaFerrari, with a dual-axis hinge mechanism that allows them to open nearly 90°. The doors’ substructure, made from high-performance carbonfibre, also acts as a structural element to absorb dynamic loads in the event of a side impact.

Offset seats

The F80's cabin features a compact design inspired by single-seat race cars, creating an enclosed F1-like atmosphere. A collaborative effort among designers, engineers and ergonomics specialists led to a unique “1+” layout that prioritises the driver. The passenger seat is positioned further back than the driver's, allowing for a narrower interior while maintaining comfort and ergonomics. This innovative approach results in a smaller cabin and reduces the car's frontal cross-section.
