F1: Trophies stolen in factory break-in
Red Bull has accumulated countless number of trophies after their successes in recent years. The trophies, which are prominently displayed at the entrance of their Milton Keynes headquarters, were stolen on Friday. The thieves, which managed to enter the premises by driving through the glass in the main entrance, stole over 60 trophies. The vehicles involved in the break-in appear to be a silver 4x4, which was used to drive through the entrance, and a dark coloured Mercedes estate car. Both have foreign (non-UK) plates. The incident also caused significant damage to the reception area. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner believed it was almost criminal to steal the trophies, which were won as a result of “the efforts of a group of dedicated, hard-working individuals”. He also stated that the “intrinsic value is low” and would be of “little benefit to those outside of the team”. Thankfully for the team, many of the trophies on display were replicas.
"The actions of these men mean it's likely that we will have to make our site less accessible in the future, which will be unfair on the hundreds of fans that travel to visit our factory each year to see our trophies and our Formula One car.
"We would like to appeal to anyone who knows any information on the whereabouts of these trophies or the offenders involved to contact Thames Valley Police."
