Before we get all excited, this is only a concept - but a very convincing and promising one indeed. With the RN24, Hyundai is demonstrating its future direction with their N performance EVs.

There’s clearly an “intent to bring back the compact, lightweight vehicle concept for the next generation of high-performance N road cars”. And for car enthusiasts, we can’t wait to see homologated, road-tested end products transpired from this project.

What is a Rolling Lab?

The RN24 is Hyundai N's latest addition to its Rolling Lab series, which tests advanced motorsport technology for future N production models. Since the RM (Racing Midship) series launched in 2012, these Rolling Labs, including recent EVs like the RN22e and N Vision 74, have acted as experimental platforms to refine high-performance technology for Hyundai's consumer lineup.

Plucked from IONIQ 5 N

The RN24's debut represents Hyundai N's vision of a high-performance, compact EV. It incorporates the 650PS dual-motor power system from the IONIQ 5 N into a rally-inspired, lightweight chassis, creating an agile and powerful electric vehicle designed for driving enthusiasts.

The RN24 incorporates the IONIQ 5 N’s PE system and a redesigned 84kWh battery, shortening the wheelbase by 340mm to achieve a B-segment size. This compact design aligns it with the dimensions of Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1 Hybrid WRC car.

No exhaust pipes, no problem

There’s a powerful external sound system with two additional side speakers and the N Active Sound+ from the IONIQ 5 N. The rear fender acts as a soundbox, amplifying the audio experience to complement the vehicle’s high-performance appeal for fans.

Exposed roll cage, wacky spoiler

The RN24 sports a WRC-inspired exposed roll cage. N Performance Parts include 19-inch matte black forged wheels from the Elantra N. The spoiler is from Hyundai Motorsport’s Touring Car Racing (TCR) models, featuring 3D-printed gussets that increase rigidity and reduce weight.
