In 2010, the name of the team was changed to Clearwater Racing to coincide with the acquisition of our first non-Porsche race car, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP-600 GT3. In 2011, it became Ferrari’s Official Race Team in Southeast Asia with the acquisition of three Ferrari 458 GT3 Race Cars.

The team has enjoyed much success and has delivered a minimum of one title per year of its life. The team has competed in various races in its six years of existence. Clearwater Racing is now the team to beat in the GT Asia Team’s Championship having won two successive titles in 2011 and 2012.

All of the above successes were achieved with Team Principal Mok Weng Sun at the helm. Mok, 45, is a Private Equity Fund Manager by day. His passion for motorsports found expression in 2006 when he participated in the team’s inaugural event, the 2006 Edition of the MMER race. Spurred on by a superlative debut performance, Mok tipped his hat into the ring and started racing properly in 2007. In his debut season, he won the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Class B Championship on his first attempt. He was also the 1st Gentleman Racer to make it on to the overall podium in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Class A Championship at the Zhuhai race in 2010. Since his switch to Ferrari in 2011, Mok has become the man to beat in the GT Asia GT3 Championship taking numerous poles & wins and back-to-back titles in 2011 & 2012.

Heading Clearwater Racing since the team’s inception is its Managing Director, Arjunan Kulasegaram.

This year, Clearwater Racing & Mok Weng Sun make the switch to McLaren to defend both their titles in the GT Asia Championship. To that end, the team has acquired a single McLaren 12C GT3 chassis from McLaren GT in Woking, England. As the team strives to be on the cutting edge of racing technology, the switch to the carbon-chassis McLaren was an obvious move. In partnership with McLaren GT, Clearwater Racing & Mok Weng Sun hope to emulate the success that they have enjoyed together in years past.
