According to figures provided by the Singapore Motor Traders Association (MTA), the brand continued its decisive lead over the competition in 2006 with 3680 cars sold.

This is an increase of 6 percent compared to 2005, marking the brand’s third straight year of growth. BMW sales have experienced strong, sustained growth since 2003, when 2,120 units were sold and the brand topped the luxury market for the first time in 2005.

The latest generations of the BMW 3 and 5 Series yet again proved to be sales successes in their segments, generating over 70% of BMW sales in Singapore with figures of 1357 and 1274 units respectively in 2006.

The BMW 7 Series limousines, used to transport world leaders during the International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings held here in September last year, continued its successful run with 753 units sold last year.

”Our leadership in the premium car segment for the second consecutive year is definitely a clear vote of confidence from our customers. I would like to thank them for their continued support and unwavering trust in the BMW brand. In addition, this outstanding achievement would not have been made possible without Performance Motors Limited," said Mr Roland Krueger, Managing Director for BMW Asia Pte Ltd.

The leader in luxury segments Mr Simon Rock, Managing Director of BMW’s sole authorized distributor in Singapore, Performance Motors Limited (PML), added: “This success is a manifestation of the excellent business relationship we have built with BMW.

When it comes to top performance, there is no substitute for quality. Both BMW models and BMW Singapore have delivered on its brand promise.”

“I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to our loyal and new customers that have joined the BMW family; and BMW Asia for its continued business collaboration. This would not have been possible too without the tireless efforts of the dedicated team at PML,” he added.

BMW brand sales in Singapore totalled 3892 cars in 2006, comprising 3680 BMW and 212 MINI cars.
