BMW M5 Starts From S$746,888 In Singapore

We’ve just announced OneShift’s category winners of 2024. BMW’s 5 Series family clinched a hat-trick of awards - 520i (luxury ICE sedan), i5 (luxury EV sedan) and i5 Touring (luxury EV wagon). That’s some “burden” for the top-of-the-line 5er to bear heading into 2025. It needs to do well, and judging by its specs, the ammunition is there to make rivals go weak in their knees.

Hybrid takes on a whole different meaning

Its M HYBRID system pairs a high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The V8, equipped with M TwinPower Turbo technology and optimised components, delivers 430kW/585hp and 750Nm of torque. The electric motor provides 145kW/197hp, with an effective torque of 450Nm at the transmission input.

18.6kWh battery good for 69km

In all-electric mode, it can reach a top speed of 140km/h. Its 18.6 kWh high-voltage battery provides an electric range of up to 69km (WLTP cycle). The car also supports AC charging at a rate of up to 7.4kW.

M xDrive-equipped, but it can send 100% of twist to the rear axle

Power from the combustion engine and electric motor is sent to the road via the M xDrive AWD system, which has a rear-biased setup, especially in 4WD Sport mode. Drivers can switch to 2WD mode, which sends power exclusively to the rear wheels with DSC off.

It comes with a double-wishbone front axle and a five-link rear axle with custom kinematics and elastokinematics, along with other specially tuned components. Its electrically assisted rack-and-pinion steering with M Servotronic and variable steering ratio is firmly connected to the front axle subframe for precise road feedback and accuracy. Together with wide tracks and high torsional rigidity in the body and chassis mountings, this setup provides the precision and handling characteristics that define BMW M models.

Gentle M reminders, everywhere

The cockpit features a M-specific control panel, flat-bottomed M leather steering wheel with illuminated M buttons and M multifunction seats with electric adjustments. It features the BMW Curved Display, which, along with the standard BMW Head-Up Display that shows M-specific content.
