The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé offers a revamped drive portfolio, enhanced suspension technology and advanced systems for automated driving and parking, ensuring a unique driving experience. In a landscape where manufacturers spend a bulk of efforts on electrification, this comes as a refreshing change.

Its modern interior features the latest BMW iDrive with QuickSelect, along with various digital services and in-car gaming powered by BMW Operating System 9. Production will be at BMW Group's Leipzig plant, with market launch planned for March 2025.

Although Gran Coupe variants include the 220 (petrol), M235 xDrive, 218d and 220d, we reckon that the Singapore market will start off with the familiar “220” variant, followed by the M-fettled M235.

Specs of the 220 Gran Coupe are based on global launch specs, so we'll have to wait and see if Singapore-specced units retain similar figures. It’s now equipped with mild hybrid tech that works alongside the 3-cylinder turbo motor. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed transmission.

Leather-free interior

Leather-free interior comes as standard, with optional Veganza/Alcantara trim that includes hand-sewn contrasting seams. Its premium feel is enhanced by backlit aluminium trims and the BMW Curved Display, along with a redesigned gear selector. Comfort is prioritised with newly designed seats, including optional sports seats in Econeer and M sports seats, all equipped with heating and electric adjustments. Note the relatively thin 205-profile 17-inch tyres, which will help in fuel efficiency.

Driver assistance systems

BMW claims that a comprehensive range of standard and optional driver assistance systems can outperform competitors in both functionality and reliability. Standard offerings include the Driving Assistant, which includes front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, exit warning, and Speed Limit Info, as well as the Parking Assistant with a Reversing Assistant.

BMW Operating System 9

This BMW iDrive is based on Operating System 9. QuickSelect allows direct access to main functions without navigating through submenus. The cockpit supports multimodal operation, utilising touch functions, voice control and multifunction buttons on the steering wheel.
