BMW at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 in Las Vegas.

It is clear that BMW is ready for 2017 and beyond. At the recent Las Vegas's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 that was held from 5 January to 8 January, BMW has given consumers a large glimpse of the future of personal mobility and the way automated driving, intelligent connectivity and interior design will be revolutionised. At CES 2017, the German premium car maker unveiled a wide range of new products and services which promised to change the scheme of things in the very near future. It has also revealed an artistic's impression of the interior whose architecture and user interface are extensively adapted for fully automated driving on board a vehicle that is seamlessly integrated into the driver’s digital life. BMW  is a true pioneer where automated driving, intelligent connectivity and control and display systems are concerned. Examples that are already available in some of the car models include the driver assistance systems, the BMW Connected digital mobility companion, the Head-Up Display, the BMW iDrive and the BMW gesture control. All these technologies, which have already formed the hallmark of BMW's automobile advancements, are aimed at reducing driver stress and offering drivers an elevated degree of freedom on how they can utilise their "free time" in the car. Using the new BMW 5 Series Sedan as a platform, BMW has successfully showcased the potential of connected mobility, providing consumers the opportunity to experience innovative digital services operated by BMW Connected and the flexible Open Mobility Cloud platform. During the 4-day event, BMW also presented the BMW Connected Window, which is its vision to offer many other possible applications through the use of innovative digital touchpoints. With a clear focus on innovative display and control technology, BMW unveiled the BMW HoloActive Touch, a new feature that marks a new dimension in how drivers select and control vehicle, navigation, infotainment and communication functions. From vision (CES 2016) to product (2017): the BMW Connected personal digital mobility companion. BMW has always been a staunch believer of digital mobility. Using ConnectedDrive as a leaping platform, BMW took the lead in cabin infotainment and communication functions. Digital mobility is not something new. Even before this year's CES, BMW has already embarked on a  new digital platform – the BMW Connected – to empower its drivers to access a wide range of devices outside their vehicle. This created a seamless integration into the drivers' digital lifestyles. The concept of BMW Connected and the Open Mobility Cloud were first introduced at CES 2016. They became a reality when both were launched in the USA in March 2016, then  in Europe in August 2016 and subsequently China in the fourth quarter of 2016. Remote 3D View, which will be made available in February 2017 in the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, will offer the driver a three-dimensional view of the vehicle and its surroundings from the comfort of his or her smartphone. Intelligent connectivity. At CES 2017, BMW showcased a suite of digital services that empower drivers of automated vehicles to optimise the way they plan their daily trips and chores. BMW Augmented Gesture Control, a new form of gesture control, is one such feature that will enable drivers to access wide-ranging information about places or buildings they see along their route. The connected driving experience is boosted by BMW's intelligent voice control. At CES 2017, Microsoft's Cortana was showcased as the in-vehicle application for BMW. This means that the voice-controlled capabilities already offered by Microsoft Cortana on a home PC or smartphone may well be available on board a BMW. BMW Connected Window: a digital touchpoint. Connectivity on the go is getting more real. Based on the premise that our lives will largely be integrated with digitisation, BMW Connected Window illustrated the endless possibilities of how digital touchpoints could improve our lifestyles. As an extension of BMW Connected’s wide-ranging functionality, BMW Connected Window showcased how the driver can link up with BMW Connected to obtain and share information, plan his or her personal mobility agenda and select infotainment functions from the vehicle's centralised console, smartphone or the “big screen” at home. To BMW, the possibilities are infinite.
