BMW Appointed As the Official Car for SIWW 2016

120 BMW limousines deployed to shuttle dignitaries.

For the first time, BMW was selected as the official brand of limousine for the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) which was held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bays Sands on July 10-14, 2016.

120 BMW limousines comprising of BMW 5 Series executive sedans and BMW 3 Series sports sedans were deployed to provide transportation for VIPs and Delegates.

The SIWW is part of the government's strategic program to develop new water technologies and push the industry forward, acting as a global platgorm to share and co-create innovative water solutions. Attendees include stakeholders from the global water industries and water technology developers.

The event was also held in conjunction with CleanEnviro Summit Singapore, a part of the World Cities Summit 2016 for government leaders and industry experts.

The event showcased thought leadership and encouraged exchange of ideas on innovative water solutions,” said Mr. Horst Herdtle, Managing Director of Performance Motors Ltd.

“Water is one of our most valuable resources, and economical use of it is a priority in the production of BMW vehicles. The BMW Group is committed to reducing water consumption per vehicle produced by 45 per cent by 2020 and will continue to provide passengers with a smooth, comfortable, luxury experience,” Mr. Herdtle added.

The BMW 5 Executive Sedan

The BMW 520i cars used during the event feature a 4-cylinder engine capable of providing a maximum power of up to 184hp at 5,000 rpm with a peak torque of 270Nm from 1,250 and 4,000 rpm. This gives the new BMW 5 an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h. Despite its power, the BMW 520i has excellent fuel efficiency, with an average consumption of only 6.4 litres for every 100km and CO2 emissions of only 149g/km.

The BMW 3 Sports Sedan

The other car used for the BMW fleet, the new BMW 318i replaces the BMW 316i, and is equipped with a turbocharged, 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of providing a maximum power of 136hp and a maximum torque of up to 220Nm from 1,250 to 4,000 rpm. The New BMW3 sports sedan can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 9.1 seconds, 0.1 second faster than its predecessor. In terms of efficiency, the BMW 3 has a better fuel consumption average of only 5.4 litres per 100km and a CO2 emission of 126 grams per km, beating its predecessor's fuel consumption by half a litre and emisisons by 11g/km.
