Audi's time machine to 1965 a resounding success
The recently concluded "A Drive Back in Time" held by Audi was a resounding success. The drive saw overwhelming support with nearly 6,000 people signing up to participate.
‘A Drive Back in Time’ is a visual reflection of Singapore’s transformation over the last 50 years made possible through the ‘SG50 Time Machine’. Guests were chauffeured around Singapore’s iconic Civic District by a fleet of Audi A6, the vehicle of choice to experience a journey back to 1965.
“Singapore has written an incredible story of success in a very short time and we are thrilled to have given nearly 6,000 people the experience of this remarkable transformation through our event at the Fullerton Hotel,” said Mr. Jeff Mannering, Managing Director, Audi Singapore.
“We are thrilled to have been a part of Audi Singapore’s initiative in bringing Singapore’s history to life. Having Audi’s guests embark on the journey from The Fullerton Hotel Singapore was especially significant. Before the Fullerton Building began its new life as a luxury hotel, it housed many occupants such as the General Post Office, The Exchange, the Chamber of Commerce and The Singapore Club, all of which played important economic roles for the country. This is the building that has witnessed Singapore’s modern history unfold, and has been the engine that directed and drove Singapore’s economy to First World success,” says Giovanni Viterale, General Manager, The Fullerton Heritage.
The ‘SG50 Time Machine’ uses the latest virtual reality technology to create a 3D experience of Singapore in 1965 complete with interactive landscapes, buildings, roads and people. Now available for free download on all iOS and Android platforms, everyone will have the opportunity to go on their own journeys back in time.
