Audi's electric transformation right on track with strong 2021 for fully electric vehicles
Despite the worldwide semiconductor shortage, Audi is still well on its way to achieve sustainable premium mobility for the future. That is evident in fully electric car deliveries in 2021, which increased by 57.5 percent over the previous year.
Additionally, Audi more than doubled its product portfolio of fully electric models in the past year, from three to seven models. And by 2025, Audi plans to have more than 20 fully electric models in its portfolio. Starting in 2026, the brand will exclusively bring new fully electric models to the market.
Audi’s electric push started early in 2021 with the presentation of the Audi e-tron GT and the Audi RS e-tron GT. The Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron also played a central role in its electrification strategy.
The company’s commitment to electric mobility is evident in its capital expenditure, too. Audi will set aside about €18 billion (SGD$27.8 billion) on electrification and hybridisation between 2022 and 2026. It is worth noting that demand for high performance is very apparent - Audi Sport recorded a 34.2 percent increase in sales globally. With current models in the RS range mostly powered by internal combustion engines, we are keen to observe how Audi charts its path towards full electrification for top-of-the-line variants, with Audi RS e-tron GT leading the charge.
