Audi Previews Electric Sub-$300k Q4 e-tron at House of Progress
Audi will soon start selling its most affordable BEV here.
The Audi grandsphere concept is jaw-dropping, and the Q8 e-tron is a tidy update to the already impressive e-tron, but it’s the Q4 e-tron that you should really pay attention to at Audi’s House of Progress.
It marks Audi’s entry into the sub-$300k segment; currently, the entry into the Audi BEV world is the e-tron which retails for north of $380k. Therefore the Q4 e-tron will undercut the formidable BMW iX3 by some $40k and will be right at the ballpark price of the electric 7-seater Mercedes EQB.
Built on the MEB platform which is also used by the Volkswagen ID.4 and Škoda Enyaq iV, the Q4 e-tron isn’t related to the Q3 as commonly assumed. With 204 hp and 310 Nm, the car will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and go on to have a top speed of 160 km/h. WLTP range is expected to sit between 447-528 km.
Some cool features include the recycling of cracked car windows to produce new plate glass used on the Q4 e-tron. The Zwickau plant where Q4 e-trons are produced uses electricity produced sustainably, and this standard also applies to its battery suppliers.
The Q4 e-tron on display at the House of Progress is the higher specification Edition One, which comes with 21” Audi Sport wheels in matt bronze, black contrast bumpers, S line trim (exterior and interior) and Matrix LED headlamps, among others.
