Aston Martin and Italian design-house Zagato revealed their latest creation, the Vanquish Zagato, last May at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como, Italy.

Because of an unprecedented customer interest, production will be limited to only 99 cars, and will only be built to order at Aston Martin's production facility in Gaydon, England. The Vanquish Zagato is the fifth creation to emerge from Aston Martin and Zagato's more than 50 years of partnership. Previous collaborations include the DB4 GT Zagato (1960), V8 Vantage Zagato (1986), DB7 Vantage Zagato (2002), and the V12, Vantage Zagato (2011). Customer deliveries will begin in the fist quarter of 2017

A Closer Look at the Vanquish Zagato

The Vanquish Zagato is a GT car that combines power and style. It is powered by Aston Martin's 6.0L v12 powertrain, and has been uprated to have an output of 600PSI. This give the Vanquish Zagato a projected acceleration of 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds. Aling with the powerful engine is a unique suspension setup that creates a GT driving experience unique to the Vanquish Zagato.

The Vanquish Zagato's body will be largely similar to the concept model revealed back in May, with proportions that are true to Aston Martin's trademark designs. The entire body will be made of carbon fiber. Split lines will be minimized by using larger, one-piece panels for a smoother overall look.

The car features round tail light reflectors, evoking the classic Zagato's rear view, but uses the same "bladed" LED technology as the Aston MArtin Vulcan, while the wind mirrors are largely similar to the units developed for One-77. The rear end profile is similar to the DB11's aerodynamic profile, and features a retractable spoiler and a rear hatch for easy access to the luggage compartment. Other norable rear features include carbon fiber sills that run around the lower body, reaching all the way to the front, as well as a quad-exhaust.

The glasshouse essentially "wraps" around the bodywork, resembling a visor and giving the Vanquish Zagato a more aggressive look, while the side strake rns from the wheel arch to the door. The rear wheel arch has a sharp crease that transforms into the rear flank and meets the roofline, which has the Zagato's signature "double-bubble". This creates the iconic silhouette that was originally a response to accommodate racing helmets without sacrificing aerodynamics back in the 1950s.

The Vanquish Zagato's interior features the signature "Z" quilt pattern on the seat and door sections, and the Zagato "Z" is embossed on headrests and stitched into the center console. Herringbone carbon fiber combined with shadow and anodized bronze as well as aniline leather gives the facia, vents, and rotary dials an elegant look that embodies Aston Martin's craftsmanship.
