Asia's Most Extreme Endurance Challenge Returns For The 16th Year

September 2017, Singapore – The Mediacorp Subaru Car Challenge returns for its 16th year as Asia’s largest and toughest endurance Challenge on 28 – 31 October 2017. For the first time ever, this year’s Challenge will offer an additional prize of S$5,000 to the winning corporate or school team of 10, with the longest combined time across each individual team member.

A joint initiative between Motor Image Enterprises and Mediacorp, the Challenge will bring together 320 local participants and 80 regional participants from Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

The hopefuls will battle fatigue, sleep deprivation and extreme weather conditions in the Subaru arena at Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza, from 1pm on Saturday 28 October 2017, in the hope of winning the Grand Prize: a Subaru XV 2.0i-S, worth S$65,000 without Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

"It will be another strong show of endurance as we enter the 16th year of the Mediacorp Subaru Car Challenge. This year, visitors can expect another weekend of true grit and indomitable spirit as the contestants put up another tough fight. We are looking forward to seeing the contestants display their sheer determination and willpower to bring home the grand prize,” said Reza Mutalib, Head of Regional Marketing and Events, Motor Image Enterprises Pte Ltd.

This year’s on-ground activities include: - Subaru Public Challenge at the Subaru booth where visitors can win exciting prizes.

- An interactive Halloween carnival where families get to participate and win attractive goodies.

- Cheerleading competition supported by Cheerleading Association (Singapore) happening onground.

- Horror-movie screenings nightly throughout the Challenge.

“For this year’s Mediacorp Subaru Car Challenge; we have upped the ante by encouraging wider involvement with the participation of corporate and school teams. We are confident that the new activities will reach out to a broader audience,” said Jessie Sng, Lead, Partnerships, English Audience, Mediacorp.

Contestants can register for this year’s Challenge either on-air or online. Radio listeners in Singapore can enter the first qualifying round by calling into the following Mediacorp’s radio stations – 987, GOLD 905, CLASS 95 and YES 933, between 18 September to 20 October 2017, or by registering online at toggle.sg/carchallenge. Corporate and school teams can send in their registration to MeEvents@mediacorp.com.sg. 20 hopefuls will also qualify directly through Motor Image via a range of online initiatives on the “I LOVE SUBARU” and “DUO Rewards” Facebook pages.

To take home the Grand Prize, contestants need to place their right palms firmly within the surface area of the palm decals and be the last one standing. They will be given a 5-minute break once every six hours throughout the competition. Last year’s winner was Singaporean Sunawr Ali who took home the Grand Prize of a Subaru XV 1.6i-S with an impressive time of 75 hours and 58 minutes.
