All-Electric 1,200 BHP Maserati GranTurismo To Debut Next Year
Maserati has announced plans for an all-electric range - Maserati Folgore. It claims that it will set the benchmark in every market segment, and be the first luxury brand to complete its electric line-up by 2025.
Could this spell the end of howling V8s before the end of the decade? Very likely. For now, the Maserati Folgore range will complement the current range of internal combustion engine siblings, although how long before it dominates the model lineup remains to be seen. We do know, however, that Maserati will launch six electric cars by 2025, and plan to phase out combustion engines from its lineup by 2030.
We are also now aware that the new GranTurismo will be the first car in Maserati’s history to adopt 100% electric solutions. Made at the Mirafiori production hub, it will debut next year, supplied by technology derived from Formula E. The all-new Grecale SUV (scheduled for launch in the next few days), MC20, Quattroporte sport sedan and the Levante SUV will also receive the all-electric treatment by Maserati Folgore.
What can we expect from the GranTurismo Folgore? A staggering 1,200bhp and a century sprint in under three seconds. If you feel the need to procure an internal combustion engined Maserati before they disappear, this 4.2-litre V8 GranTurismo (pictured above) listed on Carousell could be for you.
