Give me a quick summary of the new Skoda Kodiaq

The second-generation Škoda Kodiaq features a more distinctive design and increased space, particularly for third-row passengers. The interior now includes a 12.9-inch touchscreen display, a steering column-mounted gearshift lever, manual and digital controls, and a well-organized center console.

It’s powered by a 150 hp 1.5 TSI engine with mild-hybrid and active cylinder technology - a first for the model. It comes with second-generation full LED Matrix headlights and a range of assistance systems. New practical features include a dual Phone Box that cools and charges two mobile phones simultaneously and a rear storage compartment with a cup holder.

Is the Skoda Kodiaq’s LED Matrix beam headlight bright?

Yes - the Kodiaq features LED Matrix beam headlights, a front grille with a horizontal light strip and interconnected LED rear lights with animated indicators. These enhancements include headlights with 50% more light segments for stronger illumination, giving the SUV its distinctive "four-eyed" Škoda look at night. The headlights consist of Bi-LED modules for full and dipped beams, alongside an inner Matrix beam module with 36 light segments. Additionally, aLED strip in the shape of a "Flying Arrow" serves as the daytime running light, parking light and indicator between the vertically arranged headlight modules.

Is the Skoda Kodiaq’s interior intuitive?

It features a redesigned interior with Škoda Smart Dials below the infotainment screen, offering intuitive control through tactile and digital displays. The 12.9-inch freestanding central infotainment display includes navigation and is complemented by a restructured menu with "Home," "Car," and "App" icons. It boasts four USB-C ports (two front, two rear) capable of powering laptops and fast-charging devices, alongside a Phone Box for dual smartphone inductive charging at 15 W each, featuring a built-in cooling system.

Simply Clever details abound

Simply Clever features include sustainably sourced materials for items like the umbrella. New additions comprise a display cleaner stored in the centre console and a storage box on the central tunnel ahead of the sliding rear seat bench, which facilitates adjustable movement. Additionally, a QR code in the boot links users to an instructional video detailing the optimal use of luggage and storage compartments.

Is the Skoda Kodiaq’s engine powerful?

Given its family-oriented credentials, it’s tuned for more efficiency rather than outright grunt. But it should still supply more than sufficient performance for Singapore roads. Its 1.5 TSI petrol motor produces 150hp and it pioneers the use of mild-hybrid technology with a 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator and lithium-ion battery. This system recovers energy during braking to support the engine with electric power boosts or enable coasting with the engine off. Additionally, the engine features the latest-generation active cylinder technology (ACT+) for improved efficiency.
