A More Affordable BYD ATTO 3, OneShift's Reigning Car of the Year, Is Now Available In Singapore

Vantage Automotive and BYD Singapore have launched a new, more affordable variant of the BYD ATTO 3. It qualifies for Cat A COE too, which in our current COE climate makes for a tempting offer given the sizable S$22,698 difference between Cat A and B in the latest bidding exercise.

The first ATTO 3 variant introduced in July last year came in one performance trim level - a 150kW / 201bhp spec. This new variant churns out 100kW / 134bhp, and in this lower state of tune via the same 60.5kWh Blade battery, it can travel up to 565km (WLTP) on a single charge, versus the more powerful variant’s claimed 480km. A century sprint for the 100kW variant is dispatched in 9.7 seconds, 2.4 seconds longer than the 150kW model.

There will be no changes to the SUV’s charging time, taking under 45 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% on a 50kW DC charger. Customers will also not feel shortchanged with features like Stop & Go Full Speed Adaptive Cruise Control, in-built Digital Video Recorder, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DiLink Smart Voice Assistance, and the BYD App.

To summarise, you’ll not be receiving the shorter end of the stick if you favour the 100kW-equipped ATTO 3. It will cost S$25,000 less than the 150kW-powered car, regardless of which package (Base or Excite) you opt for, alongside more range, albeit a little less poke. Prices start from S$168,888 for the 100kW-equipped ATTO 3, while you’ll be forking out at least S$193,888 for the 150kW variant.

According to Mr James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore, the introduction of the BYD ATTO 3 “gives drivers here an excellent option for a high-quality electric car and we are confident it will be highly sought-after.” - a claim we cannot deny, given that the 150kW-powered ATTO 3 is OneShift’s reigning Car Of The Year.

“Bargain basement” deals to not end here for BYD. Vantage Automotive and BYD Singapore are expected to introduce the BYD Dolphin in the 2nd half of the year. A more compact form factor (sized like a VW Golf) and more crucially, based on pricing structures in neighbouring markets like Thailand, should be priced comfortably lower than the ATTO 3.
