He was sent to Changi General Hospital conscious but later died there.

It is unclear how he got knocked down, but shocked bus passengers screamed in horror upon discovering that the man was trapped underneath the bus and unable to free himself.

An eyewitness recalled seeing about 20 to 30 people surrounding the elderly man after the accident, and a few of them calling for help.

Some commuters wanted to pull him out from underneath the bus, but were stopped by others who were afraid of aggravating his injuries.

SCDF officers freed the man from under the bus after arriving at the accident scene.

The victim suffered fractures on his calf and pelvis, and also had abrasions on his back and forehead.
