The 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS boasts a range of features, intelligently centered on the urban commuter. Styled to fill the need for a small cc maxi scooter, the Nmax comes with an under-seat storage, ample to suit most luggage needs of the urban commuter.

The 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS features keyless lock and engine start functions, leading the small cc scooter class. Equipped with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology means the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS also features Variable Valve Actuation, or VVA, allowing it to produce a respectable 14.9 peak horsepower at 8000rpm and 14.4 Newton meters of torque at 6000rpm.

The drivetrain on the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS features a CVT gearbox, v-belt and centrifugal clutch for seamless, smooth power delivery to the wheels. 13inch wheels front and back are both tubeless and stopped by single hydraulic disc brakes, assisted by a 2 channel ABS for rider assistance.

Speaking of rider assistance, traction control also comes as standard to minimize skids and spins. This will ensure riders will find the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS keeps it manners, even in wet weather.

A digital LCD console on the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS encompasses information on speed, fuel level, time, temperature, A and B trips, battery voltage as well as miles left on Engine Oil and V-belt before service will be required.

Another class leading feature on the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS is the ability to connect with the scooter by Bluetooth, via Yamaha’s Y-Connect system to provide further information such as fuel consumption per trip for the economy conscious rider.

The 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS features LED headlights and brake lights, while signal lamps are incandescent but integrated into the bodywork for the style conscious.

Regular service requirements on the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS are as follows, oil changes every 3000km. A 1 litre bottle of oil is all it needs, even with oil filter replacements. Transmission oils are also changed every 3000km as well using 100ml of gear oil. Belt replacements are combined with rollers every 25000km while major services are every 7000km, inclusive of valve clearance checks and adjustments as needed.

Ride wise, riders will be pleased to know the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS handles decently on both city streets and the highways. Well balanced, lightweight and the convenience of CVT transmission ensures convenience. No gear shifting requirements means twist and go through heavy traffic, while fuel economy gets a boost with its stop-start feature. No engine overheating through multiple stop lights in the city or estates!

The brakes on the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS proved themselves to be strong and reliable.

Feedback from the brakes was consistent, even under heavy braking for accurate inputs.

The under-seat storage on the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS is sufficient for a 3/4 helmet with room to spare. The seat had some trouble closing with larger full-face helmets and accessories like Bluetooth communications needed to be taken off.

Bigger riders however will find that the factory seat could have been provided with a little more foam.

The same bigger riders mentioned previously would be glad to find, that true to its maxi-scooter design, the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS is spacious. Even with its visually small looking seat it does not feel cramped and has extended floorboards for a foot forward position that is comfy enough for an almost kickback, riding position.

Yamaha fitted the 2021 Yamaha Nmax 155 ABS with a charging socket in the open glove compartment under the steering, although the second glove compartment with its weatherproof lid might be a tad tight for large items, say the latest iPhone.

The only question left for this practical, cost effective commuter would simply be, “Why were the signal lamps not equipped with LEDs too?”
