How To Replace Your Car Battery

a. Make sure that the engine is turned off before beginning the process

b. Lift the hood and locate your battery. Attached to the battery, there will be a negative black cord and a positive red cord.

c. Loosen the nuts that connect the cable to the negative battery post. Remove the negative cable and then repeat the process for the positive cable.

d. Remove the battery’s clamp

e. Slowly lift the battery out of your car

f. Clean up the tray where the battery was resting

g. Place new battery in tray. Place clamp on new battery and attach both cables. First attach the positive red cable, then the negative black one.

h. Tighten the nuts. The nuts should not move when touched.

i. Dispose battery according to any local regulations.
