We’ve been there and done that - scheduled an appointment with the prospective buyer only to realise that the document templates have not been saved or printed. Which is why before the processes start proper, it’s ideal to download documents required during the selling process.

Test drive indemnity form

Ask the seller to fill up this test drive indemnity form before commencing with the test drive. The potential buyer will need to bear the responsibility during the drive. Only the test driver’s signature is required.

Vehicle sale and purchase agreement form

If the test drive went well and the buyer wants to buy your car, prepare this document: vehicle sale and purchase agreement form. Both buyer and seller (you) have to fill it up carefully as it’s a legally binding agreement.

Payment receipt(s)

Deposit:

Once both parties have signed the vehicle sale and purchase agreement form, issue a payment receipt to receive the deposit. Decide on a comfortable deposit fee and inform the buyer. Market rates range from S$500 to S$5,000.

Downpayment:

The same payment receipt template should be used for the downpayment (less deposit). State your preferred method of funds transfer, eg: bank transfer, PayNow etc.

Vehicle handover form (online)

In this final step, prepare this online vehicle handover form, which both parties have to fill. e-signatures are required. By filling up this form, the seller (you) agree that ownership of the vehicle has to be transferred to the buyer within 7 days.
