After a two-month, S$5 million refurbishment, the Volkswagen Centre Singapore showroom officially opened on April 4, 2009 to showcase more cars, facilities and services.

Volkswagen's expansion created a 75% increase in the display area, which can now hold 25 cars. Parking spaces have now been increased to 42 lots, and the welcome areas are of course, also more spacious.

A specialised accident insurance team has also been introduced, and more space has been dedicated to after-sales service and repairs.

Behind the scenes, there has been a 35% increase in workshop capacity to better cater to Volkswagen Centre Singapore's increased customer base. Accompanying this is the growth in accessories and parts availability. A new CRM system has been installed for improved assessments of customer repair records, purchase needs and care requirements.

The expanded showroom is the largest in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China. It reflects Volkswagen's global corporate design, whose clean lines and functionality allow for a more prudent and flexible use of space that can be adapted easily to market and customer demands.

"Volkswagen is looking ahead to the period of economic upturn after the current crisis," said Dr. Olaf Duebel, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Singapore. "The expansion programme underlines the importance of Singapore to Volkswagen...and our long-term commitment to Singapore customers."

On April 4, Volkswagen Centre Singapore also launched the new Golf, which is now into its sixth generation.
