Tokyo Auto Salon 2012

Tokyo Auto Salon, Japan’s famous aftermarket car parts and racing expo, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year with its usual sexy babes and loud cars.

Other than race queens and modified cars, there were also a lot of racing cars on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon. One of which is the actual Le Mans-winning Mazda 787B that did an outdoor 'live' demonstration at the show too.

A car worth looking at was the Toyota Prius hybrid race car that will be one of the new entries in the 2012 Super GT300 series:

There were many other Super GT racing cars - past and present - on display too.

Something else worth checking out is the car that New Zealander drifter Mad Mike will be using in this year's D1GP (by Magic Total Car Produce) at the RAYS booth.

At the outdoor area, 'live' demonstrations were running almost all day long from D1GP drifters to Team Goodyear Racing to Team Toyo Tires Racing and a motorsports demo run that included the run by the Mazda 787B.

Sideway smoking runs aside, the motorsports demo run also had the GAZOO Racing Lexus IS-F CCS-R, Toyota 86 (N1), Nissan Leaf Nismo RC and the Subaru Impreza WRX STI (IRC) powering round the confined area for fans.

The Tokyo Auto Salon this year is apparently smaller in exhibition size compared to previous years, but yet there was so much to absorb into the system. One day is definitely not enough - I would recommend you attend it for at least two days to ensure that you do not miss out anything!
